The report presents a qualitative benefit analysis of comprehensive and cross-sectoral planning for sustainable urban logistics. The work has involved systematizing actors and stakeholders and describing the potential benefits they could gain if urban logistics were better integrated into regional and municipal planning. Urban logistics refers to the movement of goods, equipment, and waste. Key benefits for municipalities include increased knowledge and a better basis for sustainable urban development. For businesses, the benefits include improved predictability, more effective deliveries, and a smoother transition to the use of zero-emission vehicles. There is mainly alignment of goals between the public sector and the private sector. There are likely to be positive synergies from coordinated planning of areas for urban logistics and areas for addressing space-intensive logistical challenges for public tasks such as public transport.
