The 13 municipalities of Helgeland in Northern Norway have been asked to state their need for changes in the public supply of seaborne traffic for both ferries and boats. The background is that the county councils took over the administrative responsibility for the ferries serving the national road net by 1.1.2010. With this project Nordland County Council has wanted to identify any possible coordinating effects for the routes of the ferries and the ships serving the area. We have analysed the sea transport demand among municipalities not connected to the national road network under the constraint of seaborne transport within Nordland Couty Council.
