Transport investments and consequences for industry

Investments in transport infrastructure can help to create larger and more competitive regions. Still, Norwegian experience shows that the effect of such investments are dependent upon the local context.

In particular, the industry structure in the regions that is connected is important. Travel time is also an important factor. Shorter travel time is associated with greater effect.

Big investments are made in transport infrastructure in Norway, and the investors are mainly public authorities.
